Hello coffee, goodbye kilos!

Praise the lord and pass the coffee, our New Year’s resolutions are officially achievable. Why, you might ask? Well, a nutritionist has gone on record with the news we’ve been patiently waiting for – coffee can in fact, help you lose weight. 

Published in the UK’s ‘The Express’, Nutritionist Sarah Flowers said the coffee can help you slim down because it is capable of boosting your metabolism.

“Your daily cup of coffee can boost your metabolic rate, but stimulating thermogenesis, helping you in turn to burn more fat,” Sarah was quoted saying. 

Thermogenesis is also known to reduce appetite, while the chlorogenic acid found naturally in coffee is capable of slowing down the absorption of carbohydrates and breaking down fat. Or as we like to call it, the coffee vs kilo trifecta!

Add to that the study published in the International Journal of Epidemiology, which found that of the 93,000 people followed, those who drank more coffee had a lower risk of obesity and decreased risk of type two diabetes, and we’d say all the news is pointing up for our old friend caffeine.  

However, no good story is complete without a but… so it is important to note that weight loss has been linked specifically to black coffee. But a dash of milk never hurt anyone, right? 

So, we say drink up and slim down… or at least that is the dream!
