Maryborough, we’re on our way!

Maryborough, we’re on our way!

30 October 2018

Maryborough locals will soon be deliciously caffeinated by The Fast Lane Drive-Thru Coffee and we’re so excited to open our drive through lane in early December. Before venturing to the sunny Fraser Coast, we didn’t know the extent of the colourful history here at Maryborough – from being named after the river that runs through (which was named after Lady Mary Lennox who then died in a coach accident just months later) to the birth place of the author of Mary Poppins, you’ve got some stories to tell Maryborough and we’re eager to listen!

We’ll be able to confirm the exact opening date soon, but you’ll then find us at 302 Alice St, serving coffee on the daily. But where did this whole ‘Fast Lane’ start you may ask? And just who is behind it? Well, we thought we’d do a little Q&A to introduce you to our Queen of Coffee (and TFL owner), Paula Anderson.

Ever wondered where the concept of drive-thru came from?

Ever wondered where the concept of drive-thru came from?

4 October 2018

While we’d love to take credit the wonderfully convenient concept, drive-thru actually dates all the way back to 1947… and that was a little before our time!

But how did it start? Well, with World War II still in the air, carhop service for drive-up restaurants serving burgers and other fast-ish food was taking America by storm. But it wasn’t until 1947 that the first drive-thru opened at Red’s Giant Hamburger on Route 66 in Springfield, Missouri. However, Red’s closed three decades later, so the longest-running drive-thru is the original In-N Out Burger which opened in 1948 in Los Angeles. And yes, it was based on the unique concept of a drive-thru hamburger stand using a (then) state-of-the-art two-way speaker box.

Now really, what can’t coffee do?

Now really, what can’t coffee do?

11 September 2018

Call us biased, but we’ve always thought that there’s a little bit of magic in coffee - it’s the skip in your step, your get-up-and-go, that afternoon picky-me up… but did you know that coffee is good for more than just waking you up in the morning? Used coffee grounds are great too!

The list of amazing uses of grounds continues to just grow and grow, so we thought we’d compile of a few of our favourites, so you can enjoy your coffee again – even after you’ve finished enjoying your morning cup of Joe!

Doing good, creates good.

Doing good, creates good.

3 August 2018

It’s safe to say we’ve all heard the term ‘what goes around, comes around’ and there’s always a whole lot of good going around at The Fast Lane. Here’s but a few tales of some of our awesome customers….

Tracy, our Wagga franchise, introduced one of their customers, Alan, on Instagram last year as “the sweetest man alive” – every Sunday Alan delivers doughnuts to The Fast Lane team, and tidies the gardens all out of kindness.
Our Dubbo franchisee shared the story of a local customer, Peter, who every day, without fail will shout a coffee for the car behind him at The Fast Lane – every day!
And Patti, our franchisee in Rocky, has an equally wonderful customer, Linda, who several times a week will shout a coffee for the car next in line.

And that’s just the tip of the kindness iceberg here!

We love orange, but green is cool too!

5 July 2018

Here at The Fast Lane we’re all about doing our bit for the environment… we don’t take for granted this wonderful country we live in and know that every little bit towards a greener future counts. So, whether it’s recycling our milk bottles, packaging and trays, spreading the love with our used coffee grounds (which are great for the garden by the way) or introducing new products to cut down on waste - we are reducing our foot print in the best ways we can.

But, how you might ask?

Wagga receives 2018 Golden Crow Award nomination

21 May 2018

Congratulations to Tracy and the team, who last week found out they have been nominated for the 'Best New Business' 2018 Golden Crow Award.

Run by the Wagga Wagga Business Chamber, the Golden Crow Awards exist to recognise local businesses doing amazing things in the Wagga community, so it's a real honour for Tracy and team to recieve a nomination for such a prestigious local award.

The local news even covered the nomination, with the Fast Lane Wagga feature in a piece last week. Watch the full story on our Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/9NewsRiverina/videos/364190983986917/UzpfSTIzODMxODk5MjMxNToxMDE1NzI2OTA1MjI3MjMxNg/

Wake up and smell the coffee

Wake up and smell the coffee

21 May 2018

Now, we know you love the taste, but have you ever wondered how our liquid gold comes to be?

We take good coffee seriously, so seriously that we even source and roast our own beans. Our particular blend of Arabica beans is sourced from South America, Africa and Asia and roasted weekly in our Dubbo roastery  to ensure freshness. We roast on the darker side to really develop our flavours and this also helps with our coffees stability in milks like soy (who wants a curdled coffee)!

Coffee… what is it good for? Absolutely everything!

Coffee… what is it good for? Absolutely everything!

6 April 2018

Coffee.
How does it work?
Does anyone really even know?
You’ve probably read it all before…
“Coffee will make you live longer”

“If you drink 4 coffees a day you’ll grow an inch taller in 3 years” or whatever the ridiculous headline is that particular week. We can’t even count the amount of studies presently trying to figure what exactly this cup of goodness does for us, but you can be sure we’ll continue to use any headline as an excuse to justify our love for the liquid gold!

Do you know your mocha from your macchiato?

Do you know your mocha from your macchiato?

18 March 2018

Think we’re talking about a mood when we say flat white?
Or that we’re learning a musical instrument when we mention piccolo?
Well, think again... we’re just talking coffee!

But with so many options on the menu, we know it can get hard to decipher exactly what you’re looking for in your morning brew, so we thought we’d put together this handy little list of the most common coffees. That way the next time you find yourself turning down your music in the drive through so you can think long and hard about whether it’s a mocha or macchiato morning, you’ll know exactly what you are ordering - and can avoid those forehead stress lines too!
